You know, I never would have guessed that a picture of nothing would get fans all in a tussy, but when it comes to Five Nights at Freddy’s lovers, that’s not the case.
You see, the FNAF website was updated to include an image of well, absolutely nothing. Fans of the game have begun speculating — rather frantically — what this could mean for the future of the series. Some believed that the game’s creator Scott Cawthon was done working on it.
To understand why everyone thought Cawthon was hanging up his hat, and why everyone is freaking out over the blank image, we have to step into the past.
What’s Going On with the FNAF Website?
Previously, the Five Nights at Freddy’s website included a single, rather simple image on the main page. It was the image of of a top hat, iconic as it is to hardcore Freddy’s fans, it left many wondering what was going on. Fans interpreted it to mean that Cawthon was stepping away from the series and was taking a break for a while, if not hanging up his hat permanently.
Cawthon never elaborated on what it meant, and the hat was the greeting image on the website for quite some time. Until recently, when it just up and vanished. In it’s place is the same image of the overhead spotlight and black background, but there’s nothing else there.
Could this mean that Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 is in the works?
It’s not like Cawthon isn’t known for this sort of thing. He’s used the website to tease things before. What do you suppose he’s up to now?
FNAF fans seem to believe the next game is coming. Although, it’s entirely possible that this is related to the news about the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s movie.
What Do You Think it Means?
Do you agree with the fans? Do you think there’s another game on the way, or does this have something to do with the movie?
My guess is that if there really is a movie coming, the Freddy’s universe is going to expand. It’s possible this image is tied to multiple announcements about the series.
Then again, it’s entirely possible that the image means nothing at all and Cawthon is just trolling us all, hard.
