Game of Thrones: George R.R. Martin Says Characters Will Die Next Season Who Didn’t Die in the Books

Game of Thrones is about to break our hearts again, and this time we won’t even be able to blame George R.R. Martin.

But I love [insert character name here]!

Yes, we all love [insert character name here], but apparently, no one will be safe during the HBO show’s next season. According to Martin, the writer of the book series the show is based on, characters will be killed off next season who haven’t died in the books.

“People are going to die who don’t die in the books, so even the book readers will be unhappy,” Martin said, likely salivating heavily and wringing his hands together. “So everybody better be on their toes. David and D.B. are even bloodier than I am.”

How is this possible? Are the shows ditching the source material?

Well the next season of Game of Thrones is going to be really weird because, for the first time in the series, some of the story arcs have actually more or less caught up with the books’. The ones that haven’t aren’t too far behind either.

That means that unless Martin pulls off a miracle and gets the next book out before the end of 2016, it’s very likely that the HBO series will surpass their source material with a season or two.

So the book series and the TV series are going to have different stories?

It’s very likely, especially if Martin is saying that characters are going to die next season that don’t die in the books. Realistically, they could be minor deaths that don’t matter in the long run… but I doubt it.

I’m scared and confused.

I know, me too. Hold me until Game of Thrones Season 5 hits HBO on April 12.
