Here’s Your First Trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp

Black Panther is still over two week’s out, but Marvel is wasting no time getting the MCU’s littlest hero up and running.

Ant-Man and the Wasp seems like a strange choice of story to follow the much heavier looking Avengers: Infinity War, but, after watching the trailer I’d be willing to wager a guess that this movie isn’t set after Infinity War at all.

I have a sneaking suspicion that with Captain Marvel taking the period piece route and setting its story predominately in the 90’s, the Ant-Man sequel might be taking a bit of similar step back in time, taking place concurrently with the events of other pre-Infinity stories such as Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok.

Theories aside, the trailer reveals that Scott Lang didn’t get off quite so scott-free after the events of Captain America: Civil War. While Cap was able to bust him out of the Raft, and the Avengers: Infinity War Prelude showed that he was able to return home, the trailer indicates that Lang (and by association, Hope van Dyne and Hank Pym) is still very much a wanted man.

Other highlights from the trailer include plenty more Pym tech.

The return of “Giant-Man.”

A look at some kind of ship exploring the Quantum Realm.

Laurence Fishburne as Bill Foster, a former assistant of Hank Pym.

Our gender-swapped “Ghost,” an Iron Man villain from the comics who eventually joined the Thunderbolts.

And of course, a lot of really great looks at the new powers of the “Wasp,” including wings and blasters!

Ant-Man and the Wasp will hit theaters on July 6, 2018.
