New Music Weekend: Japandroids, Ty Segall, Tift Merritt, and More!!!

Hey there, music lover! Like new stuff? Great! You’ve come to the right place. Each week all sorts of audiolicious goodies are unleashed to the masses and this is where they come to be judged. I’ll tell ya what’s good, what’s bad, and what’s a waste of your time. Thanks for stopping by!

The Big News

I’m back! And so is Japandroids!! Man, it’s been FIVE YEARS since Celebration Rock? The new one is called Near to the Wild Heart of Life and I’ve listened to it a few times now and love it.

Blast From Da Past

90s new jack swingers Bell Biv DeVoe return with their first record in seventeen years.

Solo Stuff

Singer-songwriter Tift Merritt offers up her sixth effort, Stitch of the World.

Ty Segal keeps comin’ back, this time with his second self-titled record. Features Mikal Cronin, I hear.

English ruffian Frank Carter and his band The Rattlesnakes unveil their debut full length, Modern Ruin.

RIP

This is the pat where we say goodbye to those who’ve hit their last high note. Well, not anymore. This section of your weekly music update is moving, kids. If you came here to find out who died each week, don’t worry, just keep your eyes open for Rock ‘n’ Roll Rest In Peace, a new weekly column.

My Recommendation

Allison Crutchfield’s solo debut, Tourist in this Town, has been streaming on NPR for the lasts couple of weeks and I dig it.

Next Week

Tune in next week, same new music time, same new music channel, for new stuff from: LeAnn Rimes!!!
