When Christian Bale stepped down as Batman after The Dark Knight Rises, it left a gaping question: Will another standalone Batman movie be made? It appears we have our answer. We’ll be getting the Batman movie we need, but not the one we deserve.
Another Batman Movie Is Coming?
The next standalone movie starring the Dark Knight might be simply called The Batman, and yes Ben Affleck is rumored to reprise the role. But first, we’ll be able to see how he does as the caped crusader when Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice drops on March 25, 2016.
As for The Batman, nothing is set in stone yet, but Latino Review is reporting that it will release in November 2018. If that’s the case, it will show up after Justice League Part One, but before Part Two (2019). Obviously, that means the plot will somehow intertwine with those two films. Perhaps we’ll see Bruce Wayne dealing with the aftermath?
Chris Terrio — writer of Dawn of Justice and the two Justice League films — is said to be penning the script for The Batman. Batman himself, Ben Affleck, will direct.
It’s way too early to discuss plot details or potential actors and actresses to show up in the movie. I’m curious if Catwoman will return? Who will the villain be?
Is it too soon, or are you ready to see Batman on screen again in his own film?
