NMW: Gorillaz, Willie Nelson, Mary J Blige, and More!!!

Time for your weekly roundup of all things good, bad, and ugly in new music. Strap on your headphones and let’s go for a ride!!

The Big News

Why, it’s the new Gorillaz record, of course. Called Humanz, it’s the Damon Albarn led virtual boy band’s first since 2010, and one of the most anticipated records of the first half of the year.

I Luv da 90’z

A strong resurgence in talent with origins in theĀ  1990s this week. Bottle spinner Juliana Hatfield returns with her first solo album in four years, Pussycat.

R&B legend Mary J Blige returns with Strength of a Woman.

Irish alt-rockers The Cranberries pop back up to say top o’ the morning with their latest Something Else.

And punkers New Found Glory get down with the sickness with Makes Me Sick, their first in three years.

Legendary Legends

Willie Nelson adds to his monolithic catalog with God’s Problem Child.

And John Mellancamp is taling about Sad Clowns and Hillbillies on his latest.

Alt/Rock

Thurston Moore.

And the new Feist.

And MEW.

And Ryuichi Sakamoto.

My Recommendation

As always if there is a new release from THE MAN, it will be my recommendation. Such a release emerges this week. All Hail.

Next Week

Tune in next week, same new music time, same new music channel, for new stuff from: Kasabian, which, for some reason, I am excited about.
