Hey there music lover! You like new stuff? Great! You’ve stumbled into the perfect corner of the internet.  Each week all sorts of audiolicious goodies are unleashed onto the masses and this is where they come to be judged. I’ll tell ya what’s good, what’s bad, and what’s a waste of your precious time. So strap on your headphones and let’s take a ride!

The Big News

Yeah, yeah, yeah the big news this week is the new Metallica record, Hardwired… To Self Destruct. Probably the most anticipated release of the year, I am not holding out a great deal of hope that this double disc monster will live up to expectations. The National says the record, which is the band’s first since 2008, possesses a “slightly uninspired, unfocused feel”. It also has a stupid title and a dumbass cover.

Announcements

Time for the end of the year / holiday post schedule for this column.  There will be no NMW next week but there will be a Thanksgiving songs post. The following week, on December 2, will be the final NMW update of the year. The remainder of the year will consist of my Top 10 Songs of the Year and Top 10 Albums of the year columns, as well as a holiday music post and a New Years Eve music post. After that I’ll probably be back sometime in the middle of January of 2017 with fresh NMW’s.

Other Big’uns

New Bruno Mars.

New Miranda Lambert.

RIP

This is the part where we say goodbye to those who’ve hit their last high note. Rock on and rest in peace, brothers and sisters.

Billy Miller, founder of Norton Records.

Leon Russell.

Victor Bailey, bassist for Weather Report.

Country singer Holly Dunn.

MIckey Borens of Arizona punk pioneers The Consumers.

Mr Mose Allison.

And, of course, the High Priest.

My Recommendations

Another new one from Thee Oh Sees!!! An Odd Entrances is the psyche-rage rockers’ second release this year.

Next Week!!!!

Tune in two weeks from now, same new music time, same new music channel, with new stuff from THE ROLLING STONES!!!!!!
