If you had any doubts that X-Files was making a comeback, let this photo put them to rest. Fox released an official behind-the-scenes photo from the set of the X-Files revival.
Where’s the Photo?
In the photo, we see the series Chris Carter looking at a monitor which happens to be pointed at the green-screen-set. Lo and behold, sitting in the back of a town car for some mysterious driving scene are agents Mulder and Scully played by David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson respectively.
Where are they going and what are they doing in this scene? We have no idea, but obviously they’re being chauffeured somewhere. Could this be one of the initial scenes where they are picked up and brought back to the agency?
In case you haven’t heard already, the revival will be a six-part continuation and it will premiere on January 24, 2016.
What’s It About?
We don’t know for sure what the X-Files revival is going to be about. The series creator, Chris Carter said after I Want to Believe was made that a third installment would explore the alien invasion and colonization of Earth revealed in the series finale, due to occur on December 22, 2012. That date has since passed, so it’s likely the storyline will need to change to accommodate this.
We’re probably looking at a return to the extraterrestrial themes first explored in the original nine season run.
Some event or problem is going to pull Mulder and Scully back into the fold, however. I wonder what that will be.
