It seems like crazy crossovers are becoming a thing these days. We’ll be getting a 21 Jump Street and Men In Black crossover eventually. Now, it looks like we’ll be getting an X-Men and Fantastic Four crossover.
X-Men and Fantastic Four, are you serious?
This crossover is perhaps a little more exciting for comic book and superhero fans though it’s still just as unexpected.
If rumors are true, the X-Men and Fantastic Four will meet up in 2018. The pairing is a huge, teetering “maybe” at this point because it will depend on how the Fantastic Four and X-Men films perform leading up to it.
The Fantastic Four reboot drops in August and a sequel is planned for 2018. Then there’s X-Men: Apocalypse in May 2016. If those do well then Fox will go ahead with the crossover.
If this thing does get greenlit, then the Fantastic Four cast would likely reprise their roles. If you’re not in the know, that’s Miles Teller as Mister Fantastic, Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm (Thing), Kate Mara as Susan Storm, Michael Jordan as Johnny Storm (Human Torch) and Toby Kebbel as Doctor Doom.
Channing Tatum has been announced to play Gambit. We don’t know at this point if his character would be part of the crossover, but it’s safe to assume so.
It also makes me wonder if Hugh Jackman would appear as Wolverine? He has made it clear that the next standalone film — Wolverine 3 — would be his last, which is set to release in 2017. If they don’t kill off his character, who will be chosen for the role?
This is great news for fans of both franchises if it all pans out anyway. There is a bit of negative here though. If they do well, then it’s less likely we’ll see Marvel and Disney acquire the rights. What are your thoughts on that?
