This year’s NYCC was officially the biggest and largest in the show’s nine year history. In response to the record-breaking 151,000 passes sold for the convention itself, show organizers Reed Pop have turned NUCC into an 11-day event called New York Super Week, comprised of 130 events in over 20 venues throughout the city, ranging from comic shops to concert halls.

The show itself has expanded in its own ways. This is the first year that show organizers made the decision to make Thursday an official full Con day this year. Celebrity guests appearing this year included Star Trek’s Patrick Stewart, Karate Kid Ralph Macchio and George Clooney, who made a surprise appearance during Disney’s screening of his upcoming movie “Tomorrowland.’ There were also panels featuring the cast and creative staff of many popular television shows such as “Game of Thrones,” “The Walking Dead” and “Doctor Who.” Even with all of these special events, the main attraction was still the show floor, which featured over 700 exhibitors debuting new and exclusive merchandise , in addition to tons of giveaways.

Many attendees are already counting down the days to next year’s show, which will take place from October 8 through October 11, 2015.
