The recently released patch, 6.1 added tons of new features to the strong lived MMORPG World of Warcraft or ‘WoW’. Some very cool and helpful features have been added, such as the heirloom window, which allows all heirlooms to be seen in one place (rather than having to log onto a specific character and send the heirlooms to whichever ‘toon’ you’ve decided to play/level up.) It also allows for more than one copy of the heirloom to be made as to previously only allowing the single heirloom to stay with one specific toon. You will have to log into whichever toons of your have heirlooms though, to have them registered in the log. But there are a few achievements you’ll get from getting more heirlooms, and when you have 35 heirlooms in total, you’ll receive a level 1 heirloom mount which is a nice change from the endless walking!
There has also been talk of WoW implementing a game time token, which can be bought for real money and sold ingame for gold. I personally love this, as it makes a way for players who have a lot of ingame gold but have trouble paying for the $15 monthly subscription. So far, I’ve heard that the game tokens will go for 15k to 20k ingame until the economy of the different realms either picks up the price or drops it. No word yet on when it will be implemented.
The garrisons have had a few extra changes, with the ability to spend garrison resources on follower re-rolls and training guides as well as missions. The chance for a world boss to invade your garrison. A new daily visitor for you and your friends to get a new daily quest from, that will allow achievements, rewards, and a meta-achievement for finishing all the quests. And fun little features such as the S.E.L.F.I.E Camera that you receive from a random garrison mission and the garrison jukebox and the chance to get new music for it from all over Draenor! You’ll be able to complete bounty quests, where you group up with two or more players to defeat a powerful enemy and have the chance at a heirloom quest item as well as earning gold. Relic quests have become available, which when you finish them all, you get the famous Harrison Jones as a follower. Followers can now obtain the Treasure Hunter trait, which increases the amount of gold awarded from a mission that rewards gold. There are a number of new Follower missions available to you in patch 6.1, including missions that reward Apexis Crystals, Savage Blood, Augmentation runes, Archaeology Artifacts, and items that instantly complete work orders.
Twitter was also integrated into the game, allowing you to share when you get a great piece of gear or when you’ve finally killed a certain boss, or just for fun as you can take a screenshot and upload it directly to Twitter! It makes for a great social aspect of the game that you can share with friends that don’t play it.
The legendary quest line with Khadgar was updated and following allows you to get the legendary follower; Garona Halforcen and along with her legendary abilities; Garona comes to you with three abilities befitting an Assassination Rogue, as well as the Master Assassin trait, which greatly increases the chance of success on any mission she is assigned to. Furthermore, she starts at a follower item level of 630, makes for a wonderful add to your garrison.
As well as the new raid Blackrock Foundry, with the final boss as the infamous Blackhand. Players will fight their way through the 4 tiers of the raid. The first; the Slagworks, where they fight against Gruul, Oregorger and The Blast Furnace. Then they venture their way to the second tier, The Black Forge, where they face off against Hans’gar and Franzok, Flamebender Ka’graz, and Kromog. Nearly done, they enter the third tier, the Iron Assembly, where Beastlord Darmac, Operator Thogar, and The Iron Maidens wait for them, ready for an epic fight. And as they ready themselves for the last tier, Blackhand’s Crucible, which unlocks March 24th, Blackhand himself waits as heroes ready themselves to defeat him.
So the patch 6.1 has added many new features and quests, certainly a very fun patch. As with other players, I am very excited to see what 6.2 holds and I wait for it patiently as we all fight to defeat Gul’dan.

The legendary quest has a very strong point, the interest in what is happening with us in Draenor has me at the edge of my seat, what Gul'dan is up to next and seeing the story progress. The different quests have me hooked, I've never been as interested in the story before, the closest I can compare the great story telling to is the expansion The Wrath of the Lich King. Wonderful storytelling and atmosphere which is a wonderful change as the previous expansion was a mess in that aspect.
Garrisons render the gathering professions useless, that is for certain. It does make crafting certain items/gear yourself easier but it took a toll on the realm economy as the price of herbs, ores and such very low.
