A few hours ago, Disney released a press kit for their 2018 slate. In it, we’ve gotten our first official description of what exactly this year’s Star Wars installment is going to be about.
Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.
There’s not much there we didn’t already know or guess at, but importantly, the press kit does confirm the film’s May release date. This pretty much guarantees that the film will not be pushed back, regardless of the persistent rumor.
As for a visual look at the project, there were no images revealed just yet. Historically, Disney has granted the first batch of exclusive pictures to Entertainment Weekly. There’s no word on an exact date for a trailer drop either. Black Panther will be hitting theaters in almost exactly a month (February 16) however, so that seems as good a window as any to begin marketing Solo in earnest.
Solo: A Star Wars Story is set to be released on May 25.
