The Big News
I’ll be honest, I had no idea that Skillet is a Christian metal band or whatever until, really, like five minutes ago when I read it’s Wikipedia page. Additionally, I was completely unaware that the quartet had released nine albums already. I mean, I didn’t care either (I honestly believed that Skillet was like Nickleback’s permanent opening act or something like that) but still, ya know, like just sayin’. For reals. Anyway, Unleashed is the bands’ tenth overall release and first since 2013.
A pair of southern rock acts emerge from the swamps this week. Veteran Florida mashers Blackfoot return with Southern Native, their first record since 1994.
And Nashville’s The Cadillac Three return with their sophomore effort, Bury Me In My Boots.
Guitar god J Mascis and company return with another Dinosaur Jr record, Give a Glimpse of What You’re Not, the fuzzed out rockers’ first since 2012.
Wilco guitarist, and personal hero of mine, Nels Cline returns with Lovers his one zillionth release.
This is Jeremy & the Harlequins.
And a new Russian Circles.
Idol Something or Other
American Idol 14 winner Nick Fradi-something or other unveils his debut, Hurricane.
This is the part where we say goodbye to those who’ve hit their last high note. Rock on and rest in peace, brothers and sisters.
Roye Albrighton of Nektar.
Legendary producer and manager Sandy Pearlman.
Keith Gemmell of Audience.
New Wye Oak. Right on!
Tune in next week, same new music time, same new music channel, for new stuff from: Atmosphere!!!!
