If you have an active imagination — like me — I’m sure you’ve wondered what a Nintendo theme park might look like. Apparently, we’re going to find out real soon.
Universal Studios and Nintendo have announced a partnership that will see Nintendo-themed attractions added to Universal’s parks. According to the press release this will result in the creation of “spectacular, dedicated experiences based on Nintendo’s wildly popular games, characters and worlds.”
Why Is Nintendo Doing This?
Aside from the fact that it will be awesome to see Nintendo themed attractions, the company is working towards licensing deals to get their franchises out in the open.
We don’t know yet what franchises or characters will be the highlight at Universal’s parks, Nintendo claims more details will come later. Although, it’s likely we’ll see the biggest names like Mario, Zelda (or Link), and a few others.
I happen to live fairly close to Universal Studios Orlando. When the attractions finally arrive — it will be a while I’m sure — I’ll plan to check them out and share my experiences with you here at Overmental! My guess is that a Nintendo themed island will be added to Islands of Adventure. Imagine, an entire section of the park dedicated to Nintendo’s franchises. Sounds awesome!
