The Big News
I gotta tell ya, kiddo, methinks it’s super amazing news that the most chirped about new rekkid this week is Beyond the Sunset by Amanda Shires. Shires is one of the truly great and important artists working today a person whose vision and effort will one day make her an American treasure. The Washington Post calls her “an unclassifiable original” and calls Sunset, her latest solo set, “a pleasure” and “her best work yet”. The cover looks like a Bjork record and this is a record made in Nashville. Can’t wait to hear it.
Everything Else
Memphis legends Lucero return with another great one, Among the Ghosts. Lead Lucer Ben Nichols is one of the great drunken songwriters on the planet and I’m sure this’ll be another masterpiece of whiskey soaked rockers.
One of the great overlooked bands of all time (and if I remember correctly, Morrissey’s favorite band) James returns with it’s first output in a couple of years, Living in Extraordinary Times.
And dope rapper Mac Miller is slated to unveil Swimming.
My Recommendation
Two releases from legendary legend Jim Lauderdale. Gotta recommend them both. The first is a “lost album” recorded in 1979.
And an album of new material called Time Flies.
Next Week
Tune in next week, same new music time, same new music channel, for new stuff from: Nicki Minaj.
