Christopher Lloyd is back as Doc Brown, but what story is being told?
For those of you who haven’t watched Back To The Future Part 2 recently, we’re about one month away from the day Marty and Doc travel to in “the future.” Alas, we may be a hoverboard and a few Jaws sequels short of that future but it’s still a time for rejoicing. In addition to putting the original trilogy back into theaters for your marathon viewing pleasure, it seems the powers that be are also putting out a new blu-ray collection of the series to commemorate the occasion.
And that blu-ray collection includes a short film featuring Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown.
What is this short film?
It’s called “Doc Brown Saves the World.” It features Doc Brown in our time period, so it makes complete sense that he’s Christopher Lloyd’s age. It seems at least part of it will be taking place in his lab, it will feature the Delorean… and he’ll be saving the world of something. You know, typical mad scientist stuff.
Unfortunately, the official description on YouTube doesn’t help elaborate on the story:
Great Scott, Doc Brown’s back! Here’s a sneak peek from the new short coming exclusively to the Back to the Future 30th Anniversary Blu-ray and DVD Trilogies. #BTTF2015
How can I watch the whole thing?
Either Universal will put it out online or, more likely, you’ll have to buy the Back To the Future blu-ray collection.
Is there any way I can get more Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown without the short?
Yes! Telltale released a Back to the Future game a few years ago featuring all the characters returning. While Michael J. Fox doesn’t play Marty (he does have a cameo, however), they have a fantastic impersonator filling his shoes.
