Fox has announced planned release dates for movies all the way through 2018, including a sequel for the unreleased Fantastic Four reboot, another Wolverine movie, a mystery Marvel movie, and a Ridley Scott film.
THR reports that Fantastic Four 2 has been scheduled for July 14, 2017, although it’s important to note that if the first one bombs, a sequel is pretty unlikely. The first installment is currently set for a June 19, 2015 release.
A sequel to James Mangold’s The Wolverine is also set for 2017, this time March 3. This confirms Mangold’s previous comment that another Wolverine is likely the next X film after X-Men: Age of Apocalypse arrives.
Fox has also set a date for an unannounced “Marvel” film for July 13, 2018. Fox doesn’t have a whole lot of Marvel properties to choose from, making it fairly likely that this is the X-Force movie the studio has been developing.
Also in the works is an unannounced Ridley Scott movie for March 4, 2016. Could it be Prometheus 2? Scott previously confirmed that two sequels have been written, although he was under the impression that these would go out in 2014 and 2015.
Lastly, Taken 3 has been officially scheduled for January 9, 2015.
Fox also revealed a few changes in their established schedule. Matthew Vaughn’s The Secret Servicehas moved up from March 6, 2014 to to October 24, 2014. An untitled Vince Vaughn movie has moved from October 24 to March 6, 2015. Finally, Paul McGuigan’s Frankenstein (starring Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy) has moved from January 16 to October 2, 2015
