Once again, Latino Review is breaking news about who’s going to play the role of the next Spider-Man. If rumors are true, Asa Butterfield (Ender’s Game) will be donning Spider-Man and Peter Parker’s tights.
You may remember, since we talked about it recently, there are rumors that the new standalone Spider-Man movie will be called The New Avenger. This is because – whoever ends up with the role – will be starring in not only a standalone film, but also in Captain America: Civil War and eventually both parts of Avengers: Infinity War. Like it or not, Spider-Man is joining the Avengers team.
Marvel undoubtedly chose the title The New Avenger to set the record straight for casual viewers; Spider-Man is now one of the Avengers. Considering how many actors have portrayed him on screen — and how many different versions of the character we’ve seen — you can’t blame anyone for being confused when they realize someone else is wearing the iconic red and blue spandex.
Who Says Asa Butterfield Is Spider-Man?
Claiming the familiar unnamed “industry source,” Latino Review says that Butterfield already has the role.
“Marvel had liked him since day one.”
Nothing has been confirmed by Marvel, yet. However, Latino Review has been pretty accurate with their tips in the past.
Whatever the case may be, Marvel will need to choose the next Spider-Man pronto as Civil War is slated to release on May 6, 2016 – it needs to start shooting soon. After that, the standalone Spider-Man film will drop on July 28, 2017.
It won’t be long now.
What do you think of Asa Butterfield as Spider-Man? Is he a good fit or not?
