Looks like Rick and the gang will have another new human to interact with. Deadline reports that 25-year-old actress Alanna Masterson has been cast as a recurring character in Season 4 — with an added option to become a regular in Season 5. Not too bad for a girl with nine (very threadbare) acting credits to her name.
Details are very hush-hush, which is to be expected, but Masterson will reportedly run into our zombio apocalpyse pals midway through the upcoming season. She’ll presumably be a fellow survivor (rather than a decaying, bloodthirsty corpse), and sources speculate that she’ll be playing Tara Chalmer, a character introduced in The Walking Dead prequel novel Rise of the Governor (i.e. she also might have a bone to pick with that one-eyed devil.)
If you don’t recognize Masterson —or if you mix her up with her acting doppelgänger Camilla Belle — you’re not alone. The Walking Dead will be Masterson’s first big-time gig. She’s been around the Hollywood scene for a few years now, but most of her roles have been as minor guest stars on television shows like Malcolm in the Middle, Greek, and Grey’s Anatomy.
The Walking Dead Season 4 premiere airs on Sunday, October 13 at 9/8 c.
