Game of Thrones Season 5 premiered last night with “The Wars to Come,” and with it, viewers around the world were brought back into Westeros to see the aftermath of the events of the last season.
We won’t go into spoilers here or even discuss the contents of the episode, because maybe some people missed it, yet still dared to use the Internet. That said, we’ve already taken to asking a few questions about it, because how could we not?
For those that still need to watch it, but HBO, HBO Go and HBO Now aren’t valid options, there’s another method available to catch up on the season’s first episode, and it happens to be free. Well, it’s free provided you have the right console.
How can I watch for free?
Owners of the Xbox One or Xbox 360 that also have an Xbox Live membership (which should be everyone), can watch the episode for free, as Microsoft and HBO have partnered up to give fans other Game of Thrones content to watch until next Sunday.

The usual stuff that you’ve probably guessed already. Things like additional trailers, behind-the-scenes videos, and trivia questions asked by certain members of the cast.
All Xbox Live members can take advantage of this?
That’s right. No need to have an Xbox Live Gold account.

Yup. Xbox Live members have until April 16 (Thursday) to watch the Game of Thrones Season 5 premiere for free. After that, you’ll have to use whatever other means you come across.
Most likely, that’ll involve using a friend/family member’s HBO Go account. It’s fine, we all do it. Fortunately, all new episodes hit the streaming service shortly after airing.
