The movie starring the merc with a mouth will now feature Morena Baccarin as the female lead.
The Hollywood Reporter has stated that Morena Baccarin will be starring opposite Ryan Reynolds in the upcoming Deadpool movie.
Morena Baccarin, she looks familiar. What has she been in?
You may have seen her in Homeland as Jessica Brody or Gotham as Dr. Leslie Thompkins, but the role you’re more likely to remember was her character Inara on Firefly and in the movie Serenity.
What will she bring to the table for Deadpool?
She has always brought a ton of charisma and sensitivity to her work as well as strength and confidence. Given the fact that Deadpool as a character is innately snarky coupled with Ryan Reynolds’ general candor, I think she will be an excellent addition to the film and bring a lot to the dynamic between the two.
Who will she be playing in Deadpool?
There’s no word on that yet unfortunately, but there are several possibilities. The writers haven’t specifically said if they’re following a given storyline from the comics or taking the initiative to craft something new, so your guess is as good as mine in that regard.
Personally I hope they craft a new character for her outside of the comic series. Her screen presence always brings something unique to whatever she’s cast in, so I hope the writers use her charisma and confidence to their advantage.
When does it come out?
Right now Deadpool is headed to theaters on February 12, 2016. Almost exactly one year from today. Get hyped!
