A Legend of Zelda TV series? This could go awfully wrong, or incredibly right.
Say what?
While it sounds like an absolutely bonkers idea, it’s no joke. According to a Wall Street Journal report, Nintendo and Netflix are currently developing a live-action series based on the games together. The project is reportedly in its “early stages,” so don’t get too excited just yet, but apparently the pair are looking to create something akin to “Game of Thrones for a family audience.”
Who’s attached?
There’s no word yet on writers, a showrunner, or potential stars yet, but given how much money Netflix has been throwing at original content lately (Marco Polo‘s budget gives Game of Thrones a run for its money), I wouldn’t be surprised if they managed to attract some big names.
When would it be coming out?
We have very little information on this project right now, as it sounds like the two companies have only just begun to discuss the idea. Given Nintendo’s track record on working with Hollywood, I’m sure they want to take their time with this one, to make sure it doesn’t blow up in their faces again.
