It seems like trailer reaction videos are going to be all the rage, thanks to the brilliant spoof of Matthew McConaughey crying while watching the Star Wars: Force Awakens trailer. Just recently, Pixar has posted a reaction video to Avengers: Age of Ultron using the characters from Inside Out.
Wait, Pixar were the ones who did this?
Indeed. It makes perfect sense if you think about it. Both Marvel and Pixar are owned by Disney, so it follows that they would want to use cross promotion with all their brands to maintain awareness of their products.
Does that mean we’ll be seeing more trailer reaction videos?
The Matthew McConaughey video currently has more than 9 million views on youtube. If a company can obtain that kind of marketing power by cross cutting some footage that they already own it’s a safe bet they’ll go for it. There are marketing execs who would sell members of their extended family for that coverage to money ratio.
When are Inside Out and Avengers: Age of Ultron out?
You can see Avengers this upcoming weekend starting May 1st (unless you attend a midnight screening) and Inside Out will be released on June 19th. If you want an even closer look at the Age of Ultron trailer, check out our analysis.
