If you’re like the rest of us, you’ve been gnawing at the bit for a glimpse at Zack Snyder’s upcoming Batman vs Superman title. With Ben Affleck taking over as Batman, and Henry Cavill returning as Superman it should turn out to be good — we hope.
A rumor is making the rounds that Snyder is gearing up to release a five second teaser for Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice via Twitter at the end of this week.
When Is This Happening?
This Thursday (April 16), the Star Wars Celebration is going to kick-off at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. It looks like Snyder is going to tap into that momentum, unveiling a five second teaser trailer for Batman vs Superman via his personal Twitter just hours before (9AM). After watching, you’ll be able to sign-up to view the full trailer which will be shown in a theater on Monday, April 20.
Keep in mind, this is an unconfirmed rumor at this point so things could change.
This news was announced by Latino Review scoopster El Mayimbe/ Umberto Gonzalez on Instagram who seems to have a knack for uncovering stuff like this.
According to Gonzalez, the first trailer for Batman vs Superman will also be attached to prints of Avengers: Age Of Ultron which are set to be released May 1 in the US.
Why Is This Such a Big Deal?
During the Star Wars Celebration the first trailer for the new film in the series is going to be released. Snyder is hoping to steal a bit of thunder, diverting attention to his superhero film instead. His teaser should draw plenty of interest not just to his film, but also to Avengers in May.
It does beg the question: Why would Marvel show a DC comics trailer before their biggest earner?
Screen Rant claims the two parties are teaming up to reel in a larger audience.
“Apparently, the two comic juggernauts [Marvel and DC Entertainment] have brokered a mutually beneficial peace, with the Dawn of Justice trailer set to be shown in theaters ahead of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Considering the projected size of Ultron’s opening weekend audience, that means the largest exposure for Batman V Superman humanly possible.”
Keep an eye on Snyder’s Twitter if you’re interested in seeing the teaser.
