Marvel Casts a New Inhuman for Agents of SHIELD

Luke Mitchell is joining the cast of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD as a character named Lincoln. That doesn’t mean much by itself, but what’s interesting about the release is that Marvel has specifically referred to his character as an “Inhuman,” the first time that the series has officially used that term.

What’s Lincoln all about?

Lincoln will make his debut during the second half of season two as an Inhuman who helps Skye learn to control her new powers. As far as I can tell, he’s not directly inspired by any comic book character.

Where have I seen Luke Mitchell before?

If you’re a fan of CW shows, you might have seen Mitchell in The Tomorrow People as John Young.

So they’re really doubling down on this Inhumans thing eh?

Yup, it’s worth noting that this is the first time SHIELD has officially used the term “Inhumans.” That shows me that they’re not going for an Inhumans-inspired sort of vibe, we’re getting the real deal. And if that’s the case, I can’t imagine that Black Bolt, Medusa, and the rest of the crew are far behind, especially with a full-on Inhumans movie on the horizon.

It will be really exciting to see SHIELD finally play a significant role in the development of the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe story, instead of sort of existing in the background of the movies.

Sounds like fun, when’s SHIELD coming back?

We’ll be getting new episodes of Agents of SHIELD starting on Tuesday, March 3 at 9:00PM ET on ABC.
