Foggy, Karen and Matt discuss about ‘The Man In the Black Mask.’ The press have crucified him and the police are out for blood. Foggy things the vigilante is a coward and should be punished for his crimes. Karen isn’t so sure the crusader is a bad guy. Matt thinks, if he is guilty, he should be given a fair trial.
Lelend Owlsley is having a meeting with a Yakuza mobster, Nobu. He moved some money around as instructed. Leland wants to know what’s the money is for. The gangster leaves without answering. Leland is about to leave when Matt shows up and demands answers. Leland attacks him with a stun gun and flees. A blind man shows up and helps Matt up. It’s Stick (guest star Scott Glenn), a man that trained Matt how to fight and use his ‘gifts.’
Stick has come to Hell’s Kitchen to stop Nobu from unleashing a deadly weapon, ‘Black Sky.’ He advises Matt if he helps bring down Nobu, Fisk will fear him. Matt agrees to help if Stick promises not to kill anyone. Matt refuses to kill anyone. Stick sees this as a weakness but needs Matt’s help so he agrees not to kill anyone.
They make their way to the docks. Nobu has men stationed as a cargo container containing ‘Black Sky’ is being brought over. Matt and Stick take care of the guards. Soon, the container is opened to reveal a young boy. Stick tries to kill the child but Matt intervenes. As Matt continues to fight off the guards, Nobu and his men escape with the boy.
Matt later confronts Stick about breaking his promise. Stick assures Matt that young boy was actually a monster. He then reveals he killed the boy later. Matt and Stick fight. They beat each other to a bloody pulp. Stick actually seems pleased about their encounter. He then reports to a mysterious stranger. Stick assures him that ‘Black Sky’ is no longer a threat. The mysterious man asks if Matt is ready. Stick isn’t sure if Matt is actually ready to win the upcoming war.
I’m curious about Stick. He comes across as a real jerk. However, his training has helped Matt a great deal. He keeps mentioning a ‘war.’ I don’t think he’s talking about taking on Fisk. He also hints that the boy wasn’t human. So what was he? I don’t know much about the Daredevil comics. To the readers out there, is Scott Glenn’s portrayal of Stick accurate?
Foggy is brought into the fold much to Ben’s dismay. I wonder if Foggy will figure out the truth about Matt before Ben does. Foggy saved Karen from some muggers so he’s proven his worth. Ben is careful and knows what he’s doing. I just hope can protect both Karen and Foggy. Ben knows the criminal element in Hell’s Kitchen is dangerous. He wants the truth to come out. He just doesn’t want anyone dying in the process.
