A Fast & Furious segment was recently added to the backlot Studio Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood. If you’re more inclined to the Orlando-based parks though, and are feeling left out, don’t worry.
Universal has announced that Fast & Furious: Supercharged will be making its way across the country, becoming a standalone attraction in Universal Studios Florida.
How similar will it be the California version?
Concept-wise, the upcoming attraction sounds pretty similar to the premise of the Hollywood one. You’ll begin at the headquarters of the F&F crew, before boarding “specially-designed vehicles for an adrenaline-pumping ride with your favorite stars from the films.”
Hopefully though, as a standalone attraction, it won’t be exactly the same experience. I’m guessing they’ll re-use the footage they already shot though, as it will probably be a pain the butt getting Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, and Luke Evans back again. Then again, given how elaborate Universal’s recent attractions have been, maybe they will go the extra mile and create an entirely new ride.
For now though, all we have to speculate on is this piece of concept art, showing off the queue for the attraction:
Where will it be located?
To make room for Supercharged, Universal will be shutting down Disaster: A Major Motion Picture Starring You! on September 8, 2015. Additionally, Beetlejuice Graveyard Revue will also close sometime this year.
When does it open?
The attraction will open sometime in 2017.
In the meantime, we’ve got The Wizarding World of Harry Potter opening next year in Hollywood; and for the Orlando parks, a King Kong ride featuring huge sets and a brand new ride vehicle will open in Summer 2016 in Islands of Adventure.
