Hafthor Bjornsson from ‘Game of Thrones’ Just Broke a 1000-year-old Weightlifting Record

In case you weren’t already aware, the man who boasts the name “The Mountain” in Game of Thrones is extremely strong.

Hafthor Bjornsson, the man who plays the aforementioned character, has already been named the strongest man in Europe and added to his already impressive legacy this past weekend with a record setting performance in the World’s Strongest Viking competition.

So, what record did he break?

For starters, let’s point out that, according to Iron Mind, the record he broke stood for 1,000 years. Yes, The Mountain broke a record that stood for a millennium. That’s nothing to scoff at.

The feat of strength in question is mind-boggling. Bjornsson took five steps carrying a log that was over 30 feet long and weighed 1,433 pounds. That’s damn near 1 ton.

So, did he win the competition?

It should go without saying. Check out the video below to witness the incredible feat for yourself.

What’s next for this incredibly strong guy?

Bjornsson took to his Instagram account to tell his fans that he has set his sights on the World’s Strongest Man competition. I don’t know about you, but I think he’s got a serious chance at taking that title, too.
