I managed to resist the Disney Infinity craze, then those blasted Amiibos… I don’t think I can do it three times in a row, especially not when Batman is involved.
What is LEGO Dimensions?
It’s basically like Skylanders/Disney Infinity, except you’re buying LEGO minifigs and sets, and somehow, that makes all the difference.
The game is also really playing up the whole “crossover” angle, with expansion packs available for everything from DC Comics, to Back to the Future, Lord of the Rings, The LEGO Movie, and even The Wizard of Oz of all things. Here’s what they’ll look like:
How much will these packs cost?
The bigger packs, such as the Back to the Future One (which includes a figure, a DeLorean, and a little hoverboard) will go for $30. These will also include a level in the game (Hill Valley in this case).
The smaller “Fun Packs,” which only include a single minifig and vehicle, will go for $15.
In either case, pricey no doubt, but about the same as the other toy-based video games at the moment.
When is the game out?
We’ll be seeing LEGO Dimensions hit store shelves (and my wallet) on September 29 on the Wii U, PS4, PS3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360.
15 dollars? Yikes. That’s more costly than your average skylander or common amiibo. Can’t see this going over too weel
