If you’ve ever sat and thought to yourself, “You know, I really think I should be able to brutally murder fighting game characters from the comfortable sanctuary of the corner table at Jimmy John’s,” then fret not, faithful gamer! The wait is finally over!
NetherRealm Studios will be releasing the much-anticipated Mortal Kombat X for Android and iOS devices in April, and the game will be free-to-play, much like NetherRealm’s mobile release of Injustice: Gods Among Us.
The game is being described as a “fighting/card battler” hybrid.
So, what’s it like?
This description is similar to WWE Immortals, NetherRealms most recent release. WWE Immortals combines real-time fighting mechanics and talent card collecting to improve a player’s characters, which is similar to the mobile version of Injustice: Gods Among Us.
WWE Immortals was released in January and it wouldn’t be out-of-place to see some of its features recycled for use in the mobile version of Mortal Kombat X.
Will there be any special unlockables?
Similar to Injustice, players with a WB Play account will be able to unlock exclusive bonus content for use in the console version of MKX.
What sets this apart from Injustice and WWE Immortals?
What will make the mobile Mortal Kombat X unique from its predecessors is the use of fatalities. If the gameplay experience matches what we’ve seen in the trailers, these will likely be the same fatalities featured in the console version of the game.
When is this all going down?
Mortal Kombat X releases on April 14th for all last and current gen consoles and PC. So, get ready to “Finish Him!” anywhere, anytime!
