Hey there music lover! Like new stuff? Great! You’ve come to the right place. Each week all sorts of audiolicious goodies are unleashed onto the masses and this is where they come to be judged. I’ll tell ya what’s good, what’s bad, and what’s a waste of your time. Thanks for stopping by!

The Big News

Ok, so like I said last week, this will be the last New Music Weekly update of the year that covers new releases. The rest of the year will be dedicated to end of the year top ten lists (10 best singles of the year, and 10 best albums) and to a few fun posts about holiday music. Then I’ll take a few weeks off, and be back in the sometime in January with current NMW’s. Now, onto the muzak, kiddos.

The last few weeks have been kinda a big deal, with new releases from mega stars (and mega sellers) like Justin Bieber, Adele, Elvis Presley, and the fucking Pope. This week it’s another blockbuster slab o’ wax, Coldplay’s soon to be massive A Head Full of Dreams. I know, I know, I thought these fuckers promised to break up but I guess not. Anyway, it’s the English money-makers’ seventh record and second in the last two years.

Gangsta! Gangsta!

The new Rick Ross record, Black Market, features contributions from Cee-Lo, John Legend, and Mary J Blige, among others. It’s his third release in the last two years.

Leftovers

Highly anticipated new stuff from the mind of Kid Kudi. Speedin’ Bullet 2 Heaven is a massive blast of Kudi madness, a double album featuring 18 new tracks and some extras.

R&B legend Babyface unveils his tenth release (and first since 2007), Return of the Tender Lover.

Rest o’ the Year

These four monsters will be out later this month!

New Baroness.

Cage the Elephant.

T-Pain.

Grimes.

All Apologies

Last week I made a mistake and a commenter was kind enough to point it out. The new Danzig album Skeletons is a covers record, but it does not include the song “You Were Always on My Mind”. I used it because it is an example of Danzig covering a song and there is a dearth of Skeletons videos on Youtube. So thanks to FunkyMagurk for pointing out that I didn’t do enough research. Here is a video that is more representative of the new Danzig album. It’s the promo for the album and it’s exhilarating!

Additionally, I’d like to point out that where I come from the definitive version of “You Were Always on My Mind” is the Willie Nelson version. Thanks again!

RIP

This is the part of the week where we say goodbye to those who’ve hit their last high note. Rest in peace and rock on brothers and sisters.

Eli Avramov of HaClique.

Dutch hippie dude Armand passed at the age of 69.

Folksinger Ron Hynes died.

Hee-Haw favorite Ramona Jones.

My Recommendation

No surprises today. I’m looking forward to the new Sunn 0))) like every other music lover.

Next Week

Tune in next week, same new music time, same new music channel, for my top ten songs of the year!
