Twice the Spider-Man, double the fun?
Before it was announced Peter Parking would be coming to the MCU, there were quite a few rumors that it would be Miles Morales joining the ranks of the Avengers. After all, we had seen two versions of Peter Parker… the last of which didn’t seem to resonate with audiences. However, it seems Marvel is determined to bring the definitive version of Peter on screen . It’s certainly a laudable goal… but many are worth wondering when, if ever, we’ll see the on screen debut of Miles.
Well, Yahoo was wondering the same thing when they asked director Jon Watts if Miles would show up.
What did Watts say?
Well, the good news is he didn’t say no, “I can’t talk about that, because, you know, that will reveal too much. We’re still writing the story…we haven’t finished all the way through the story yet, so who knows.”
What does that mean?
It means he’s being very diplomatic but we doubt Morales will actually show up in the Spider-Man film. If he does, it’ll be a quick cameo appearance only.
How would Miles Morales show up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe if they were planning on adding him?
Well, we imagine it’d actually work pretty closely to the way it did in the Ultimate comics. Peter Parker will eventually die or leave somehow (though that’ll be at least a decade away most likely) and then Miles will pick up the mantle.
We imagine something similar will happen with the current heroes. After all, Captain America has died in the comics and his mantle has been picked up by several of his colleagues including Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes.
Of course, by then the landscape of the MCU will be very different. We may very well be into Phase 5 by that point… meaning the Avengers roster will be very different as will the enemies they face.
