Dark Horse has announced plans to release Kel McDonald’s young adult graphic novel series, Misfits of Avalon, online for free. McDonald will reveal one page a day from the first book on her website (KelMcDonald.com), counting down to the release date for the series.
Misfits of Avalon follows four modern-day, misfit teens who are recruited to save the mystical island of Avalon.
“I think part of what makes Misfits of Avalon special is that it is taking the magical-girl genre, which is very focused on the feminine, and combining it with girl characters who don’t entirely fit what we think of as girly,” said author Kel McDonald.
The series will be on sale in comic shops on October 8 and bookstores on October 21.
