Soon, Square Enix will be turning nostalgia into money.
Wait, it’s happening?
It’s happening. It’s not a trick. It’s not a lie. Square-Enix was listening to those years of pleading and yelling for a Final Fantasy VII remake.
What’s happening in the trailer?
There is a voice over (presumably Sephiroth) talking about the reunion, which FFVII fans will know means a whole bucket of trouble for our heroes and their world. As far as visuals go, we get a whole bunch of establishing shots of Midgar, some very familiar flowers, the back of Barret and his gun arm… and finally Cloud… with the same spiky hair and buster sword.
How’s the game look?
Like everything we ever wanted. The graphics are incredible, though admittedly if it is Sephiroth talking he sounds a bit like George Clooney.
Wait, the game is voiced?
It’s not confirmed, but it appears so. We’ll see who they cast if that’s the case.
Where can I watch the trailer?
Right here. Enjoy and try not to squee too hard.
When is the game coming?
There’s no release date yet, but knowing Square Enix we have a bit of a wait ahead of us. Our best guess is late 2016 at the earliest and late 2017 at the latest. Still, with footage this good we don’t want to rush them.
