Nintendo and Sony have seperately opted out of hosting a booth or panel at this year’s PAX East. This will be the first time that Nintendo has ever skipped the convention.
Nintendo World Report confirmed the company’s stance. In a statement, a company rep wrote, “Interacting directly with our fans and letting them play our games firsthand is a key component of our approach. That doesn’t include PAX East this year, but we will offer our fans a variety of opportunities to get their hands on Nintendo products in 2014.” This seems to mirror their previous decision to not host an E3 presentation.
Sony meanwhile has not commented on their decision as of yet.
