No holiday is complete without the proper music. Christmas has Bing Crosby and his silver balls and mistletoe. Independence Day has John Phillips Sousa, and Valentines Day has Lionel Richie. But Halloween, with it’s songs about dancing monsters and stuff like that is the king of ‘em all, y’all. So let’s dig a little deeper. Let’s get into some really eerie shit. Here’s ten of the creepiest songs I could find!
DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, “Nightmare on My Street”
Ministry, “Everyday (is Halloween)
Type O Negative, “Black No 1”
A Halloween love story! Love the lyrics “Lilly Munster ain’t got nothing on you”
Eddie Novack, “Psycho”
One of the creepiest songs ever written.
Ertha Kitt, “I’d Rather Be Burned as a Witch”
Steve King “Satan is Her Name”
A song you’ve probably heard but never really listened to.
Louis Armstrong, “Spooks”
Panic! At the Disco, “It’s Almost Halloween”
This one’s for my lovely daughter who has a crush on that bastard Brendan Urie.
David Bowie, “Scary Monsters (And Super Creeps)
Can’t believe I’ve never posted this one. [Update: Oops, I have].
Alice Cooper, “Lay Down and Die, Goodbye”
This classic must have confused the fuck out of some stoned motherfuckers in the ’70s.
