Olivia Munn is Pyslocke, Just Made X-Men: Apocalypse Way More Awesome

Bryan Singer took to Instagram today to announce that not only would Olivia Munn be joining the cast of X-Men, but she’s also set to play one of Marvel’s most iconic mutants.

Who’s Psylocke?

Psylocke is a mutant Psylocke is a mutant who initially just had telepathic powers. Eventually though, she would gain the body and skills of a ninja known as Kwannon, becoming an expert martial artist. Later, she also acquired Jean Grey’s telekinesis, and gained the ability to form weapons out of psychic energy.

She’s been involved in various X-Men stories since the mid-80s, and outside of the core team, is definitely one of the best know characters.

What else has Olivia Munn been in?

Olivia Munn is mainly known for her work on the TV network G4, where she co-hosted Attack of the Show. In terms of her acting chops, she’s had a few big roles so far including Magic Mike and Mordecai. She also had a small role in Iron Man 2 as a reporter, but luckily that universe is separate from the X-Men stuff.

Who else is in X-Men: Apocalypse?

Apocalypse will feature the return of the First Class crew, including James McAvoy as Xavier, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique. Rumor has it that Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will also show up.

What’s it about again?

We’re not entirely sure, but clearly it has to do Apocalypse, a major X-Men baddie who was teased at the end of Days of Future Past.

And when does it come out?

We’ll be seeing it on May 27, 2016.
