If you really need to spend $40,000 in May, have I got a deal for you.
A street-legal replica of a Tron: Legacy light cycle is being auctioned off next month for a suggested price of somewhere between $25,000 and $40,000. If that sounds like way more than a typical replica should cost, you’re right, but this crazy fan project goes wayyy deeper than just some pretty lights:
What’s the story?
In 2011, a Florida company called Parker Brothers Custom Choppers teamed up with Evolve Motorcycles to create a light cycle replica that’s not only completely drivable and street legal, but is also powered by a rechargable lithium battery to make it a truly futuristic ride.
The light cycle that’s on sale in the May auction has been further customized by the Andrews Collection, and can reportedly travel up to 100 miles on a four-hour charge, and can hit speeds of up to 100 miles per hour.
Where can I put some of my hard-earned money down?
The bike will be available to bid on as Lot 259 in a May 2 Sotheby’s auction. If you’re wondering whether or not it’s worth your money, here’s a video profiling the original 2011 model:
