The ID4 sequel is set to hit theaters on June 24, 2016 titled Independence Day Forever. Currently, we know that Joey King and Brent Spiner will be part of the cast, and Jessie Usher will be playing the son of Will Smith’s character from the original. Sadly, Will Smith won’t be coming back.
More recently, the film’s director Roland Emmerich took to twitter to announce a couple actors that will be returning for the film.
Who’s Coming Back for Independence Day 2?
Through a pair of posts on Twitter, Emmerich announced that Judd Hirsch will reprise his role as Julius Levinson, and Bill Pullman will reprise his role as President Thomas J. Whitmore. It’s reasonable to assume that Pullman’s character is no longer president, as the new film will likely take place years in the future.
Today we celebrate our #IndependenceDay sequel. Welcome back, Bill Pullman. pic.twitter.com/hR3qisg70i

We don’t know much about the film yet, especially since they’re still pulling together the talent. We’ll have more information as soon as it’s available.
What do you think? Are you excited for the ID4 sequel? Do you believe it will suffer because Will Smith won’t be in it?
