The “Merc with a Mouth” is back, and he’s got a new friend.
The trailer reveals a brief look at Domino (Zazie Beetz), as well as several returning characters including Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Blind Al, and Weasel. Most interesting however is this team-up shot, which may very well be our first look at X-Force.
Despite a potential Disney shake-up down the line, Fox’s X-Men universe is still keeping things moving. Deadpool is this spring, followed by Dark Phoenix with the First Class cast in the Fall, and early next year, the horror-inspired New Mutants arrives in February. Then of course we’ve got the long gestating Gambit in the pipe, alongside other rumored projects including X-Force and X-23.
That being said, according to Disney CEO Bob Iger, if the deal goes through the studio fully intends to integrate the X-Men into the MCU. How exactly this will be approached is still a big question mark (reportedly, Kevin Feige’s team at Marvel isn’t worrying about it until Avengers 4 is out the door), leaving all of these future projects a bit up in the air.
In the meantime, Deadpool 2 hits theaters on May 18.
