Hugh Jackman has been teasing for a while that he’s giving up his role as Logan, or Wolverine from the X-Men universe.
However, during a visit to the Dr. Oz show Jackman flat out said “This will be my last one.”
“It is my last time. It just felt like it was the right time to do it. And let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it.
If Jackman is to be believed it sounds like they already have his outro planned.
“I kind of have in my head what we’re going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out.”
We’re not sure if he’s going to show up in X-Men: Apocalypse yet. There haven’t been any reports of him visiting the Montreal set. If he skips this film, then the next standalone Wolverine movie will be his last — whatever that may be.
It will be sad to see him go. However, I can’t help but wonder what Marvel has planned for the future of the character. Is it possible we’ll see him merge with the greater Marvel universe just like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch?
Who Could Play the New Wolverine?
This awesome Wolverine fan art is from Dexter Soy.
It does beg the question: Once Jackman is gone, who will play the new Wolverine? It got me thinking, what are some actors that would fit for the role. Here’s what I came up with:
1. Logan Milo Ventimiglia
2. Luke Evans
3. Gerard Butler
4. Joel Edgerton
5. Andrew Lincoln
Is there anyone else that you think would make a good fit for the next Wolverine?
