Disney has announced an opening date for Pixar Pier, the California Adventure overhaul that replaced the former Paradise Pier area of the park.
Pixar Pier will open on June 23, and will include four new “neighborhoods” themed after various Pixar films.
- The first will be a Toy Story area around the existing Toy Story Mania! ride.
- A second neighborhood will be themed around Inside Out. This area will not have any rides at launch, but will get a currently-unannounced attraction at some point in the future.
- A third neighborhood will surround the Incredicoaster, the re-themed California Screamin’ roller coaster.
- The final neighborhood will be around Mickey’s Fun Wheel, and will include a variety of Pixar worlds. Additionally, the ferris wheel gondolas have been repainted to feature Pixar characters.
Additionally, the Games of the Boardwalk section will get a re-theme to incorporate Pixar characters.
The Paint the Night parade will also feature a new Pixar-themed float in June, headlined by the characters of The Incredibles. Paint the Night will return during the first-ever Pixar Fest on April 13, swapping Disneyland for California Adventure this time around. Pixar Fest will also include a new fireworks show, and the new Pixar Play Parade.
