Given that Fazbear’s Fright was burnt to a crisp in the previous game, many players have been wondering where the heck the series would go from here.
Well, now we know. Those freaky little animatronics have followed you home:
So what’s the story behind this one?
Five Nights creator Scott Cawthon has been teasing the fourth installment as “Five Nights at Freddy’s 4: The Final Chapter” for some time, although that subtitle is noticeably absent in this trailer. Maybe he changed his mind about concluding the series here?
Either way, we’ve had some theories on where the fourth entry could go, but for now all we know is that it’s set in a home, instead of a “Freddy’s.”
We can also see that at least some of the older animatronics survived, such as this Foxy:
While others have been miniaturized for some reason, like these adorable Freddy’s:
Why are animatronics still around if the place burned down in the ‘true’ ending of the last one?
A teaser image from the end of Five Nights 3‘s “Nightmare Mode” hints that at least Springtrap survived the fire, so it’s possible that a few of the other animatronics made it out as well.
Personally though, I think it will have to do with the newspaper clipping from that ending, which states that surviving props and materials from Fazbear’s Fright will be auctioned off. My thinking is that the spirits inhabiting those animatronics somehow survived through their pieces, which may have been reassembled into the new ones we saw in this trailer.
When is the game out?
Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 will be out on August 8, commemorating the one-year anniversary of the original installment.
In the meantime, you can read up on the story so far here.
Why does they know were here ?
