Let’s Analyze the First Cast Photo of Star Wars: Rogue One

Complete with a new logo!

We’ve been hearing a lot about Star Wars: Rogue One‘s casting, but now we have a picture of our rag tag Rebel cell that will be stealing the plans to the first Death Star.

Let’s see that picture again.

Here it is:

Spiffy.

Indeed.

Who’s in this picture?

From left to right, it appears we have Riz Ahmed on the bottom tinkering with some electronics. He definitely looks like the tech expert of the group.

Above him is Diego Luna, who looks like he’s wearing some gear you might have seen on Hoth as he carries a blaster rifle. We’re guessing Luna is the second in command.

In the middle of the group is Felicity Jones looking fantastic in a very Han Solo meets Mara Jade get up. She’s definitely the leader of the group, being put front and center.

To the upper right is someone we can’t quite place, but he looks like the heavy weapons expert.

To the bottom right is the one and only Donnie Yen. They’re obviously playing to his strengths and making him the martial artist of the group if the staff is anything to go off of.

Where is this picture taken?

It’s definitely in a Massassi Temple on Yavin IV. Probably a warehouse or hanger area if we’re judging by all the spare parts.

Anything else we should know?

There’s a quote from Kathleen Kennedy:

“Rogue One takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope and will be a departure from the saga films but have elements that are familiar to the Star Wars universe. It goes into new territory, exploring the galactic struggle from a ground-war perspective while maintaining that essential Star Wars feel that fans have come to know. Gareth is such an innovative director and I’m so excited to be working with him and the extraordinary ensemble cast he’s selected for Rogue One.”

When will Rogue One be out?

December 16th, 2016.
