Justin Richmond, formerly the Uncharted 4 game director, has confirmed that he’s left Naughty Dog.
“I have in fact made the decision to leave Naughty Dog,” Richmond said to IGN. “I love the company and the people and know that they will continue to create awesome games going forward. On a happier note, after careful consideration and exploration I have joined Riot Games. There is some really innovative stuff going on here that I can’t wait to be a part of.”
While Richmond is downplaying his departure, something is clearly happening at Naughty Dog. Creative director Amy Hennig left the studio earlier this month as well. Both she and Richmond were specifically mentioned by Sony when it revealed the existence of an Uncharted PS4 game in development in 2013.
What has changed between then and now is uncertain, but with two of the project’s leads gone, it probably isn’t good news.
Richmond has been with Naughty Dog for over five years, and previously worked on Uncharted 2′s multiplayer mode, as well as directed Uncharted 3.
