Just about everyone showed up for Avengers: Age of Ultron, to the point where it’d be easier to count which major supporting characters didn’t make an appearance. That being said, one in particular was heavily rumored in the lead-up, and nowhere to be found now that the movie is actually out. No, we’re not talking about Spider-Man.
(Spoilers for Age of Ultron follow)
Last year, Idris Elba accidentally revealed that he and Tom Hiddleston had shot a scene with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. Now that we’ve seen the movie, we can confirm that while Elba’s Heimdall does have an important scene with Thor… Hiddleston’s Loki is definitely not in it.
So what happened?
We did shoot something and it didn’t play. The movie has so much, is so filled and we didn’t want it to feel overstuffed. I really wanted to have Loki in it but I understood the decision, that it was just like, ‘Now there are too many voices in the chorus.’ At some point the embarrassment of riches is actually embarrassing.
If you’re a big Loki fan, don’t worry, he’ll be back in Thor: Ragnarok in fall 2017. In the meantime, we can keep our fingers crossed for some dleeted scenes on the Ultron Blu-ray.
